Lightship Reveals AE.1 Cosmos Edition Electric Travel Trailer
After first making its debut way back in the spring of 2023, the Lightship all-electric travel trailer is finally ready for prime time. The much-anticipated towable has garnered plenty of attention over the past year and a half, including making an appearance on the cover of the August/September issue of Wildsam magazine. But at long last, the high-tech RV is about to become a reality, starting with a very exclusive model dubbed the AE.1 Cosmos Edition.

The Lightship travel trailer features an aerodynamic design built to reduce wind resistance while being towed. It also comes with the proprietary TrekDrive system, which features electric motors integrated into the trailer itself to help push it down the road. The result is near-zero loss of range for an electric tow vehicle and greatly improved gas mileage for a more traditional ICE model.
At the campsite, the AE.1 promises a refined, comfortable, and relaxing experience. The rig’s large battery pack not only powers the TrekDrive, it also provides electricity to its lights, appliances, HVAC systems, and other features. That means owners won’t need a noisy, emissions-producing gas generator or potentially dangerous propane tanks while camping off-grid. The travel trailer’s floor plan comfortably sleeps four and includes a large fully equipped bathroom and a modern galley kitchen complete with an induction cooktop, convection oven, microwave, refrigerator, and a dishwasher. The unit is also Starlink ready and includes an auto-leveling system, an automated waste water dump system, and a wireless sound system.

“With the limited-edition Lightship AE.1 Cosmos, we’re delivering a dream travel experience for sustainable travelers, tech lovers and EV enthusiasts,” Lightship Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Ben Parker said in a press release. “Our mission is to bring RVs into the electric age with the AE.1. The Cosmos Edition is the first premium realization, and we have other trims to fit travelers’ needs coming quickly down the road.”
Lightship plans to build just 50 AE.1 Cosmos Editions, with production slated to begin in early 2025 and delivery set to occur in the summer of next year. The travel trailer will be available in two colors—Timberline and DuskHorizon—and will have a price tag of $250,000, although an $11,000 tax credit will be available for most customers. Three additional trim levels—Atmos, Panos, and Terros—will follow in the near future, each with its own design and features and at a variety of price points.
