Many RVers travel back and forth between big cities, whether its to visit family or explore new urban areas. But sometimes you just need a cozy campground in a quiet town to help you unwind. Enter Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground, located right on the shores of Lake Michigan.

This family-owned campground is a peaceful retreat for anyone who needs a break. The name “hideaway” is a great term because it’s truly a hidden gem in the state of Wisconsin. And with the Point Beach State Forest on one side and Lake Michigan on the other, you’ll have endless opportunities to enjoy some fresh air.

Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground is fairly small, but it’s perfect for a weekend getaway, or even an extended vacation! It’s easy to find activities both inside and outside the campground and the area is absolutely gorgeous. Normal operating season is from April to early November, so start planning now! Read on to learn more about this delightful lakeside destination.

Overview

Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground is located in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. It’s about 45 minutes away from the city of Green Bay so you can easily travel to the “big city” if you’re looking for something specific. But Two Rivers is a quiet, charming town that’s fun to visit all year round.

As mentioned above, this RV park is also right along the edge of the Point Beach State Forest, which covers hundreds of acres. This forest is home to lots of wildlife, plus the greenery is the perfect backdrop for your campsite.

And if you’re looking for a camping destination that’s close to the Great Lakes, you won’t get much closer than this. The water is just a short walk or drive away, and there are multiple trails that can lead you directly to the beach. Lake Michigan is at your doorstep when you stay at Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground.

The park itself is fairly small, with 63 RV sites. All of them offer hookups for water and electricity, but a few are lacking a sewage connection. Fortunately, there are bathrooms at the park, as well as a free on-site dump station where guests can empty out their tanks as often as necessary.

Pets and children are also welcome here, but the park management enforces quiet nights between 11:00 pm and 7:30 am. After all, one of the biggest benefits of this park is the peace and quiet.

The prices here are also a major perk. Staying at expensive resorts can really take a bite out of your wallet. But the rates here are quite reasonable. All the campsites cost between $41–$48 per night. Discounts are also available on a weekly or monthly basis. If you stay for an extended period, you’ll start to rack up free days.

Reservations are available via phone call or email, so visit the campground website at scheffelshideawaycampground.net to get in touch with management.

Amenities

Because this is such a small and affordable campground, you might worry that there’s nothing to do. But it’s really the opposite! Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground is a family-friendly destination that has amenities everyone can enjoy.

All of the campsites come with fire rings, picnic tables, and access to the park’s Wi-Fi network. This is ideal for remote work, as well as movie nights in the RV. Big rigs are also welcome here, with some sites that are 60 feet long.

All the essentials are covered by the park, such as bathrooms, shower facilities, and laundry machines. Firewood and ice are also available for sale at the check-in office, so you won’t have to go outside of the park to pick up these essentials.

There’s also a restaurant/pub right outside the camp that’s perfect for an easy lunch or dinner. It’s called Port Sandy Bay Pizza and it always keeps guests coming back for more!

Additional amenities include:

  • A small pond
  • Playground and designated play area
  • Enclosed game room
  • Dog-walking areas
  • Landscaped gardens
  • Camp store

The park campsites are arranged in a triangular shape, with most of the amenities located in the center. This gives everyone easy access, while still enjoying a fairly spacious layout. The Rawley Point Bicycle Trail is also right on the outskirts of the campground so you can easily hop onto it and bike to your heart’s content.

Finally, the shores of Lake Michigan are right on your doorstep when you camp here. Your very own private beach is just a short, scenic walk away! It’s the perfect way to spend a day, whether you want to swim, fish, or just walk along the sand.

Nearby Activities/Attractions

Scheffel’s Hideaway Campground is located in a fantastic spot. It’s in a quiet small town, but you can easily visit cities like Green Bay and Milwaukee if you want a change of pace. But even if you stay close to home, there are lots of ways to fill your time.

Two Rivers may be small, but it hosts several fun festivals and events throughout the year. For instance, why not try to visit during the annual Ice Cream Sundae celebration! This delicious desert was actually invented in Two Rivers, so it’s kind of a big deal. Other local events throughout the year include the annual Cool City Classic Car Show, a Carp Carnival, concerts in the park, a farmers and crafters market (Thursdays and Saturdays), the exciting T’rivers Trap Out Regatta, and so much more.

You can also explore the town on your own time and create a personal itinerary. There are several interesting stores and activities to try. A few highlights might include a trip to the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum, a stroll through the Mantiwoc Lincoln Park Zoo, or a tour through the historic Rogers Street Fishing Village.

There is also a good dining selection in this town, so you won’t have to eat campground food every night! If you want to try out some local favorites, consider Two Rivers Family Restaurant, Cool City Brewing Company, Casa Mexico, and Connie’s Diner. And pizza is always on the menu back at the campground!
