Hipcamp’s top 4 tips for scoring a sold-out national or state campground

1. Create a Hipcamp AlertYou can sign up for as many campsite notifications as you like. They’re free, and will be forever.

2. Be flexible on dates and open to a last-minute trip: Most cancellations happen within a few days of a trip, so be ready to spring into action at the last minute.

3. Be willing to site-hop within your desired campground: Planning a week-long stay? Be open to the idea of booking one campsite for a few nights, then moving to another site in the same campground for the rest of your trip. Short reservations are always easier to find than long ones.

4. Respond to your Hipcamp Alert as quickly as possible: Everyone gets alerts at the same time, so the most popular campsites may be re-booked within seconds, while others may not be re-booked for several minutes. Either way, make your reservation as quickly as possible!
