Help The Tango Caravans Victims!

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched in support of the victims of the Tango Caravans collapse.

The fund was established when GoRV reader Dave Moody read our coverage of the issue, in particular the success we had with helping one of the victims, Sylwia Logan. Upon seeing the tragedy wrought upon Sylwia and her family, Nova Caravans stepped up to the plate and has since built her a van free of charge. But there are still plenty of other victims who have lost their lives’ savings, and Dave couldn’t stand by and do nothing. No could Joanne Aaron, who is helping Dave to administer the fund.

“As a family, we used to head on our annual Christmas pilgrimage to meet up with extended family and friends at our preferred van park and enjoyed all the fun of sharing meals and adventures and making last memories together,” she told GoRV. “Once us kids had flown the nest, my parents’ caravanning adventures really took off and they have travelled around many parts of Australia and experimented with a number of different vans and set-ups over the years.

“During the 2024 Christmas break, my dad and I would talk over our regular morning cuppa, and we often ended up discussing the Tango collapse and brainstormed what could be done. As an experienced senior teacher for over 25 years, P&C secretary for 10 years and professional learning officer for 10 years, I have had some experience coordinating and facilitating small and large scale fundraisers and shared my thoughts on what a coordinated approach would look like. I was more than happy to jump on board the Tango Action Group (TAG) team and try to make a difference!

“We formed a resolute TAG team made up of some Tango victims, Dad and I, and set out to get the word out. In order to establish some credibility, we sought the support of Max from GoRV and have created a logo, email account, Facebook account and GoFundMe account.

“Now, we just need to continue to get the word out that we are trying right a terrible wrong for these people and make their lives less stressful, and to enable them to enjoy their caravanning dream. We are also in the process of contacting caravan manufacturers, caravan parks and caravan related Facebook groups and pages around Australia to seek their support.

“As my dad has often commented, just $2 from every van owner in Australia would cut the amount owed to creditors in half!

“Thank you for taking the time to read about our project and even if you can’t donate, please share with others to support.”
