Grech RV Continues Focus on High-End Sprinter-Based RVs

Keying on high-end motorhomes might seem the antithesis of sound business practices during a tight economy, but Riverside, Calif.-based Grech RV continues to make a name for itself as a manufacturer of luxury motorhomes built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis.

While Sprinter-based Class B and Class C coaches are already considered the pinnacle of comfort and affluence in the smaller motorhome segments, a recent story in Robb Report notes that “Grech RV’s best-in-class offerings mark the apex of 40 years of luxury coach building experience from the brand that pioneered the genre as we know it.”

Grech RV offers 10 models — all built on either two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive Sprinter chassis — under its Strada, Turismo and Terreno nameplates. Each line includes a special “ion” model, one of which — the company’s flagship Strada-ion — drew noteworthy praise in Robb Report. Built on the Sprinter 3500XD 170-inch extended wheelbase, the Strada-ion includes a solar-charged battery system that is said to be the only UL-listed and tested lithium-ion-based setup currently available on the market.

“The Lithionics batteries provide 1,260 amp-hours (16,128 watt-hours), enough quietly generated energy to power the air conditioning for up to 12 hours. The battery recharges through a 300-watt solar system or, when the Sprinter’s diesel engine is running, via an onboard 280-amp auxiliary alternator,” the report noted.

Built at Grech RV’s 165,000-square-foot production facility, the Strada-ion also features UltraLeather seating surfaces, soft touch walls, birch hardwood cabinets, an insulated subfloor topped with a vinyl woven flooring element, power folding bed, wet bath with a macerator, power entry step, automatically controlled air suspension leveling system, Timberline heating system, LED accent lighting throughout and power-operated blinds.
