March is a great month to go RVing. Temperatures start to warm up as winter gives way to spring, but the summer heat still has yet to arrive. But what are the best places to go RVing in March?

Let’s take a tour of some of the best March destinations for RVers.

1. The Gulf Coast

The Gulf of America (previously the Gulf of Mexico) is renowned for its warm, calm waters, and there are tons of great stops to make all along its coast. This is the largest region on our list, but with so many great spots, we couldn’t pick just one place to visit.

Gulf Destinations for RVing in March

We start in the Florida Panhandle, one of the state’s hidden gems, dotted with quaint coastal towns like Destin and Niceville. If you’re looking for more action, you can check out the spring break mecca of Panama City. For a place to stay, we recommend Destin West RV Resort

Moving further west into Alabama, you’ll find Gulf Shores and the beautiful Gulf State Park. From there, you’ll hit Mobile, where you can soak in all the Southern history and enjoy Mobile Bay. While you’re there, you can enjoy a stay at Shady Acres Campground—Mobile’s best-rated RV park!

Next is Mississippi, where the most notable stop is Biloxi. Hit it big at one of Biloxi’s famous casinos, enjoy some seafood, or take a trip offshore to Deer Island. Biloxi’s Cajun RV Park offers a great place to stay, an onsite casino, and quick access to the beach.

Finally, you’ll pass into Louisiana and soon find yourself in one of the Gulf Coast’s biggest destinations: New Orleans. Between the music, food, and culture, this legendary city needs little introduction. And while you’re in New Orleans, there are few better places to stay than French Quarter RV Resort.

2. Chincoteague Island, Virginia

Chincoteague Island in Virginia is the perfect place to visit while RVing in March for some seaside relaxation. Here, you’ll find a quiet small town famous for its beaches and wildlife. Probably the most notable wildlife are the Chincoteague Ponies, herds of wild ponies that live feral on the island.

For more wildlife, you can check out the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Besides the famous ponies, you can spot animals like snow geese, piping plovers, and even bald eagles.

Other great things while visiting Chincoteague in March include:

If you’re looking for a place to stay, Tom’s Cove Park offers pet-friendly sites with full hookups, plus a pool.

3. The Florida Keys

The Florida Keys are a string of small islands stretching out from Florida’s southern coast into the Caribbean. These islands offer incredible weather, beautiful views, and tons of recreation opportunities.

The “Key” to RVing in March is in Florida

The first key is Key Largo, the longest of the keys. Here, you’ll find John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first underwater park in the United States. Divers and snorkelers can see one of the only living coral reef formations in the US, plus the famous “Christ of the Abyss” statue.

In the middle of the keys, you’ll find Marathon. Its central location makes for a great stop, with great RV parks like the Jolly Roger RV Resort. While you’re there, you can check out the Dolphin Research Center and swim with the dolphins.

After you leave Marathon, you’ll cross the famous Seven Mile Bridge and enter the lower keys. This stretch of the keys includes a number of smaller islands, including Bahia Honda, an entire island designated as a state park.

Finally, you’ll arrive at the final Florida Key, the famous Key West. In Key West, you can find thriving nightlife, soak in tons of history (including the famous Hemingway Home), and snap a photo at the southernmost point of the continental USA. While you’re there, you can enjoy a stay at the island’s best RV park, Boyd’s Key West Campground.

4. Sedona, Arizona

Stunning views, a vibrant arts community, and an amazing climate are just a few of the things on offer in Sedona, Arizona. This amazing little town has endless things to do—making it a perfect stop for RVing in March.

The town is surrounded by stunning red rock formations to visit, including:

All of these attractions are only scratching the surface of what you can do in Sedona. Other attractions include fortune tellings, historic sights, and stunning sunsets, just to mention a few.

With so much to do, you could spend all of March and then some enjoying Sedona. And luckily for RVers, Sedona has plenty of great RV parks, like Lo Lo Mai Springs Outdoor Resort and Rancho Sedona RV Park.

5. Borrego Springs, California

If you love stargazing, you’ll love Borrego Springs, California. Surrounded on all sides by the Anza-Borrego State Park (California’s largest park), the area is designated as an International Dark Sky Community. The town has no stoplights and minimal nighttime lighting so you can enjoy incredible views of the night sky.

Besides dark skies, the park offers plenty of hiking, camping, and off-road opportunities.

The town also has a thriving arts scene, including classes at the local art institute. Art lovers will also love nearby Galleta Meadows, a roadside attraction featuring over 130 unique metal sculptures.

The best place to stay while you’re in Borrego Springs is The Springs at Borrego. While you’re there, you can enjoy a round of golf at the golf course, lounge by the pool, play a match of tennis, and much more.

There are so Many Great Places to go RVing in March

The possibilities are nearly endless for March RVing destinations. Soaking up the sun in the Keys, seeing the sights in Sedona, or watching wild ponies in Chincoteague are just a few of the options available. With so many places to see, the hardest part will be deciding where to go first!
