Experiential events are a core part of Go RVing’s strategy to expose diverse audiences to RVing and an active outdoor lifestyle in an unexpected setting, according to a News & Insights report by the RV Industry Association (RVIA).

Dana DelVecchio, Go RVing’s Senior Manager of Programs and Experiential Events, emphasizes that the events’ purpose is to educate and inform consumers. Taking place at venues such as fairs and festivals, outdoor sports, music events, and multicultural celebrations, the experientials give consumers real-world opportunities to engage firsthand with RVs. This encourages them to share their experiences and become more likely to make a purchase themselves.

Go RVing has completed five experiential events so far this year, which have resulted in 33,766 tours and 1,750 leads. So far, Go RVing’s team has hosted experientials at:

  • Fort Lauderdale Air & Show (Fort Lauderdale, FL) April 29-30
  • Denver Cinco De Mayo Festival (Denver, CO) May 6-7
  • GoPro Mountain Games (Vail, CO) June 8-11
  • WPA Juneteenth (Pittsburgh, PA) June 16-19
  • Country Fest (Cadott, WI) June 21-24

DelVecchio notes that, when deciding which RVs to display at any given event, she considers the consumers who will be attending. “For example, if there’s a country music festival happening, that’s really popular with all age groups and we can expect a big range of audiences to tour the two RVs on display.”

According to DelVecchio, there are generally two types of consumers who tour RVs at the events: those that are exploring an RV for the first time, and those that are primarily familiar with older motorhomes. Both groups ultimately learn about the diversity in newer model types and discover that RV travel is a lot more affordable and accessible than they had imagined. “We want people to touch, feel, and see RVs firsthand,”he says.

DelVecchio says that the experiential events continue to be popular. By the end of 2022’s experiential events, Go RVing had conducted almost 127,000 tours and collected over 6,100 leads. “We’re hoping to get similar results this year. More events will make a difference in our numbers and we’re always trying to move forward so we can inform and educate more people. That’s what these events are for.”
