EDITOR”S NOTE: The following is a News & Insights report by the RV Industry Association (RVIA).
The big picture: A critical component to Go RVing’s mission is a focus on audience growth, and the program continues to make an impact with the LGBTQIA+ community.
- During the recent MAGNA Events Equity Upfront, the partnership between Go RVing and Q.Digital was highlighted for the second year in a row, a powerful testament to the positive effect Go RVing’s custom programs are having on diverse audiences.
Tell me more: MAGNA is known for putting action behind the desire to raise visibility for diversely-owned and targeted media businesses. The Equity Upfront was born in 2021 to identify gaps in how the media industry engages and collaborates with Black-owned and targeted media. The company has now expanded to include Asian American Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and LGBTQIA+ media companies.
Why it matters: Q.Digital is the leading independent LGBTQIA+ owned media company behind the websites Queerty, LGBTQ Nation, GayCities, and Into. In 2022, they created three videos that helped viewers “live their best RV life,” showing off tips and tricks for how to have the most successful RV life possible.
- Content focused on cooking, fitness, and pets. The videos were hosted by couple Rachel Paulson and Kelly Hrebenar, and each video had a ‘guide’ that showed the couple’s tips and tricks.
Numbers to know: The collaboration has been effective reaching the LGBTQIA+ audience as the data points to high interest in RVing from the community. In 2021, the content received 2.5M total video views, with 755,000 complete views. In 2022, those numbers were 5.3M and 1.7M, respectively.
