Get Ready For The First Ever RV Trip Planning Campout

An RV Trip Planning seminar being held outdoors at an RV park.

Campout Promises Great Food and Fun Learning

RV trip planning can be tedious and difficult, while simultaneously being fun and exhilarating. Making plans for those exciting RV trips in advance gives you that feeling of adventure long before your trip starts. That planning however can, at times, come with a learning curve. Jimmy and Lisa Cox from FindUsCamping believe they have found a solution by holding the first ever RV Trip Planning campout, being held this April 15th–19th, 2025.

Having logged more than 150,000 miles in the last few years towing and showing their fifth-wheel around the country, they have become well versed in the number one RV trip planning tool, RV LIFE Trip Wizard, part of the RV LIFE Pro navigation system.

A Desire To Share Their Experience & Knowledge

With so much time behind the wheel, Jimmy and Lisa have seen it all. Whether it’s problems with the RV, the road, the campground or myriad other unforeseen circumstances, when you log that much seat time, you learn a thing or two. They discovered they have a desire to share what they have learned about RVing, to save others the trouble of going through some of the more difficult experiences.

The phrase, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth,” or some variation thereof, is usually attributed to Mike Tyson. The same can be said for RVers. We all have a plan until we reach a bridge that’s too low, a corner we can’t make the turn on, a dirt road we didn’t anticipate, or a full campground.

The Idea Of A Trip Planning Campout

Already, FindUsCamping holds regular Campouts and Crawls, getting together with other RVers for a casual time, good food, and sharing their experiences. Those events, and the desire to really dig in and teach trip planning birthed the idea of a campout to focus exclusively on mastering the basics of successful trip planning with RV LIFE Trip Wizard.

The idea is simple; bring people together at a nice location for some great food and relaxation, then drop in some casual but in-depth trip planning sessions. In more formal learning or classroom settings, some folks can be too intimidated to ask the questions they might have. They watch and try to learn, and hope they figure the rest out later.

Jimmy and Lisa believe that this campout setting will be so friendly and comfortable, that everyone will be able to ask all of their questions. The advantage of a focused trip planning campout like this is, you never run out of time. If you still have questions after that day’s education, you can always pow-wow with Lisa or other attendees over dinner, drinks, or dessert and ask those questions then.

The FindUsCamping RV Trip Planning Campout

RVers interested in this fun, unique approach to trip planning can sign up for the campout which will be held from April 15th–19th 2025 at the Wildwood RV Village – Wildwood, Florida. This former KOA location is in the midst of a refresh by new owners, Bluewater, a frequent partner with RV LIFE and FindUsCamping.

What’s Fun About It?

Most of us who didn’t think school was all that fun back in the day have learned by now that a properly taught, casual class on something we are really interested in is actually fun. Learn trip planning and travel trips from folks that have been there and done it all. Lisa will encourage lots of participation, so everyone should get all their questions answered and learn a ton.

Enjoying excellent food and drink is also a lot of fun, and RV LIFE will sponsor breakfasts and a great dinner. There are also several interesting attractions close to Wildwood RV Village where you can break up the learning for a few hours.

After breakfast and a morning learning session, guests can enjoy local attractions and lunch on their own, or just hang out at the campground and have something delivered. Whether you choose a museum, a winery, or just hanging at the RV, you’ll be ready for that midday session to deep dive into the nuances of great trip planning. Dinner and Campfire Chats will round out the day, with casual Q&A and fellowship in abundance the rest of the evening.

What Will I Learn?

In addition to the trip planning focus at this event, Jimmy & Lisa will take some time to talk about their experiences with full-time RV living and travel. If you’ve thought about full-time RVing, or even just extended part-time, this is a great opportunity to tap into their vast experience on the road. You can expect some great Q&A sessions as Jimmy and Lisa answer any question you can dream up.

During the trip planning seminars, one of the things you will learn about RV LIFE Trip Wizard is the broad scope of its features. Lisa will show you how to use great RV LIFE Pro features like:

  • Adding Fuel Stops
