Gear Review: Disc-O-Bed’s Kid-O-Bunk

Whether you’re on an RV trip with the family, hosting a campfire night for the neighborhood, or putting on an outdoor movie night with friends, finding seating options for your pint-sized guests can be a challenge. Thankfully, the ever-popular designers of the ready-to-go sleep system Disc-O-Bed also have a kid-friendly version called the Kid-O-Bunk.

Feature-wise, there’s not much difference between the Kid-O-Bunk and the Disc-O-Bed, but the Kid-O-Bunk was specifically designed to be used by kids. It’s both sized for kids and comes in colors and camo patterns meant to appeal more to kids. But how does it hold up? Keep reading.

The Kid-O-Bunk in Action

For the first couple of times we set up the Kid-O-Bunk, we referenced the easy-to-follow instructions. But with a little practice, you can get it done in less than five minutes. When we tested it out, the kids used it for a sleepover at our house and it worked great. We also set it up inside the RV as well and it ended up saving a lot of space.

When you set it up, you can arrange it in the vertical bunk set up or separately as twin cot systems. However, in the vertical arrangement, the first cot sits about 9.5 inches off of the ground while the top bunk sits 28 inches from the ground, which gave us some peace of mind in terms of overall safety.

The Kid-O-Bunk can hold up to 200 pounds per single cot. This means most adults can easily sit on it with a kid or fit several kids across it as a seating option. One thing that stood out, though, is how sturdy the sleep system is. It’s a very solid and trustworthy build.

Also, it features polyester fabric that’s also water-resistant for most liquids. It’s also not only functional but fun. Its bright red color and the modular tool-free disk system keep my kids off the ground which is helpful in the hot summer months when ticks and other biting insects are trolling for victims in the grass.

The Verdict

Life already feels a little chaotic with two kids under three, especially when we’re on the go. Having products like the Kid-O-Bunk makes life a little easier and adventures less stressful.
