Fun Town Donates $250,000 to Boost RV Tech Training – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
CORSICANA, Texas – Navarro College, a premier educational institution located in Corsicana with branches in Mexia, Midlothian and Waxahachie, announced in a press release the upcoming launch of a groundbreaking RV Technician program and construction of a facility to house it.
The project is funded in part by a $250,000 donation from Fort Worth-based Fun Town RV.
Amberly Patrick, training director for Fun Town RV, told RVBusiness this morning that the project has been in the works for approximately two-and-a-half years. She said after opening his store in Corsicana, Fun Town founder and CEO Jarrod McGhee asked her to “get with the president of the college and their continuing education department and get an RV school built and that’s what we’re doing.
“We’re partnering with RVTI (Elkhart, Ind.-based RV Technical Institute),” she added. “The basis, the core skeleton of the course will be through RVTI and we’ll add things like soft skills, computer literacy, forklift driving, 10 hours of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) training and LP (liquid propane) certification, so when they get out they will actually be a technician.”
Groundbreaking is planned in the near future.
The release stated the project was launched to meet the growing demand for certified RV technicians and help transform the industry’s workforce.
Recognizing the critical need for skilled professionals, Navarro College, in collaboration with RV industry leaders, is leading the charge to develop the next generation of RV technicians. With support from top manufacturers and industry partners, we’re committed to providing unparalleled training to aspiring RV professionals,” according to the release.
The new program, inspired by the success of Navarro College’s renowned John Deere Technician Program, offers comprehensive training through Level 1 & 2 RVTI Certificates, with advanced opportunities via collaborations with Lippert Technical Institute for Levels 3 & 4 RVTI Certifications. The curriculum is packed with essential skills, including PDI Technician roles, RV maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting, as well as proper RO write-ups, LP certification, forklift certification, and OSHA training.
“While Fun Town RV is a pivotal supporter and the driving force that led to the creation of the RV Technical Institute, this program is designed to benefit the entire RV industry. We invite industry leaders and stakeholders to join us in empowering future RV technicians and driving the industry toward a brighter, more innovative future. Together, we can make this visionary program accessible, inclusive and a catalyst for excellence in the RV sector,” McGhee said. “Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to be part of this exciting journey with Navarro College!”
