Friends Push Rock Down Hill, Then It Heads Straight for Their Car

When a man decided to kick a large, loose rock down a hill from where a group of friends was sitting, he didn’t expect the rock to take a sudden turn and start heading for the car at the bottom. He probably didn’t expect the video of this moment to go viral, either. Since Cole Doyle posted the footage on his Instagram page yesterday, 1.6 million people have liked it (and that’s likely going to continue to skyrocket).

Doyle posted the video, tagging Ben Blackley. It’s not clear which of them is the one who kicked the rock. It’s also not clear exactly whose car was at the bottom.

What do you think will happen? Watch as a rock rolls ominously down a hill toward a car here:

What Did We Learn?

Phew, that was a close one.

“Not Doing That Again,” Doyle wrote in his post sharing the video.

As the rock careens toward the car, the tension in the group is palpable. When it crashes into another rock and finally comes to a stop, the person filming says, “Thank God!” The person who kicked the rock also looks visibly relieved that he didn’t accidentally smash the vehicle.

The comments section is divided. Some people say they were rooting for the rock to hit the car.

“I was soo cheering that rock to smash that vehicle to bits!!” wrote one person. The comment got over 122,000 likes, and many others have chimed in with a similar sentiment.

Other comments note how scared everyone was as they watched the scene unfold, and how uncomfortable they must have felt as they were unable to do anything about it.

“The silence was LOUD,” wrote one person.

While I personally wouldn’t kick a large loose rock down a hill for no reason, I also wouldn’t wish for someone’s car to get ruined. It’s likely no one in that group will ever make a similar decision again.
