Ford Takes Us on a Video Tour of the 2023 Transit Trail Camper Van
Last week, Ford took the wraps off the Transit Trail, the latest edition to its popular commercial van line-up. This new model is expected to serve as a platform for RV manufacturers to build next-generation Class B motorhomes and will likely be popular with do-it-yourself vanlifers as well. In the video above, the company provides more details on what the Transit Trail brings to the table and why it is an exceptional choice for camping.
When designing the Transit Trail, Ford incorporated several features that should enhance its appeal with RVers. For instance, the vehicle comes with all-wheel drive, making it a more capable off-roader and overlanding option. Improved ground clearance, burly 30.5-inch tires, and a skid plate add to the vehicle’s rugged capabilities. The van even ships from the factory with marker lamps and a reinforced grill, which are typically added using aftermarket components.
Under the hood, the Transit Trail features Ford’s ultra-reliable 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which produces 310 horsepower and offers 6,500 pounds of towing. The van has five pre-set driving modes: Normal, Eco, Mud/Ruts, Tow/Haul, and Slippery. Drivers can change configurations on the fly to optimize performance under those conditions.
Ford says the Transit Trail will go on sale in early 2023 with an MSRP of $65,975. For more information, check out the video above and visit Ford’s website.
