First Day Hikes for the New Year

A Special Feature from our friends at Ontario Parks

To kick off the new year, Ontario Parks is inviting Ontarians to participate in a First Day Hike on January 1st, 2024. Parks around the province will be hosting events to help participants spend the first day of the year enjoying the great outdoors.

As Ontario heads into winter, it’s important to prioritize time outside to improve mental and physical health. It’s been shown that spending 20-30 minutes outdoors 3 days a week can help lower blood pressure and reduce stress levels. Hiking is also a great way to stay active through the colder months to promote head to toe health.

Set the right intention and prioritize mental and physical health this year, start off by heading to one of the more than 30 provincial parks that remain open this winter and participate in a First Day Hike. Find a local park and spend the first day of 2024 with Ontario Parks.
