Officials are gearing up for the 34th Annual Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show, Oct. 4-8, at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave., Novi, MI 48374.

Hosted by the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC), the Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show will feature hundreds of RVs exhibited by a dozen dealerships, with the typical strong contingent of manufacturer reps also on hand.

“We are truly expecting another great Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show,” MARVAC Director Darren Ing told RVBusiness this morning as he was busy directing units onto the show floor. “Besides the new RVs on display, the show also will feature multiple booth exhibitors featuring parts, accessories, and campground information, plus we’ll have several seminars from Under the Radar, Josh The RV Nerd, Blue Ox, Pullrite, and Dometic.

“You add it all up and it makes this the complete RV show experience,” he added.

Ing noted that the RVs will include folding campers, motorhomes, travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth-wheels, and a park model, ranging in price from $6,995 to more than $400,000. On-site dealer RV financing and RV rentals also will be available, he mentioned.

The 12 dealerships include Bish’s RV, General RV, Kline’s RV, Krenek RV, Holland Motorhomes, National RV, Price Right RV, RV One/Blue Compass RV, TerryTown RV, Veurink’s RV, Vicars Trailer Sales, and Woodland Airstream.

The 34th Annual Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show, will feature two “Under the Radar” seminars hosted by co-hosts Tom Daldin, right, and Jim Edelman, who will recount their recently filmed RV episode.

The “Under the Radar” seminar Ing mentioned will be hosted by Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman, the pair who are behind the popular long-running PBS television program that features the people, places and things that make Michigan a great place to be. UTR is broadcast on every PBS TV station throughout Michigan and in millions of households across Canada, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Tennessee and even Florida. “Under The Radar” has won multiple Emmys for Best Program, Best Host, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Program Promo.

The two recently filmed a special camping episode for its upcoming season, and spoke with RVBusiness about the experience. TerryTown RV donated a Jayco Greyhawk for the episode, which included stays at Woodland Shores RV Resort along the Lake Michigan coast in Mears, Mich., and the Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.

Daldin and Edelman – who quipped that they can “finish each other’s … sandwiches” – told RVBusiness that they thoroughly enjoyed their RV trip.

“I have to tell you, the motorhome drove so much smoother than I was expecting. It actually felt like I was driving a big SUV,” Daldin said, adding that each of the two campgrounds presented different ways of camping. With its own private beach on Lake Michigan, Woodland Shores RV Resort featured a spectacular setting, they said. Meanwhile, Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park was a relaxing escape from the nearby Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort.

The Under the Radar seminars, during which Daldin and Edelman will talk about their adventures around the state and sign copies of their book, take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8.

Josh “The RV Nerd” Winters from Bish’s RV, right, will also be hosting several seminars during the show.
