‘Ethereal Forest Creatures’: Trail Cams Capture Majestic Lynxes

The Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) is a mid-sized forest carnivore that lives in parts of northern North America, including northern Minnesota. This past fall and winter, the Voyageurs Wolf Project, which operates trail cameras in this part of the country, captured some great trail-cam footage of elusive lynxes. The organization calls these rare animals “ethereal forest creatures.”

“We captured a lot of really neat lynx footage this past fall and winter!” wrote the Voyageurs Wolf Project on YouTube. “They are just such ethereal looking creatures, and its always a highlight when we get footage of them, especially in the daylight.”

The organization created two compilation videos of the best lynx footage from last fall and winter. In the first video, you can watch as several lynxes stalk past the camera, at times sniffing it. Perhaps the best part of the first video, though, is when a lynx shows off its leaping skills!
