EcoFlow, Cummins Unveil New Portable Power Stations
As the popularity of portable power stations continues to grow amongst consumers, several companies are scrambling to meet the demand. Just last week alone, both EcoFlow and Cummins separately announced new models, bringing convenient charging solutions to the campsite. These new options come with impressive battery life, plenty of charging ports, and an array of valuable features.
EcoFlow, which already sells an established line of power stations, introduced three new models in its River 2 series. Those include the standard River 2, the River 2 Max, and River 2 Pro. These lightweight units come with 256, 512, and 768 watt-hours of power in compact packages that weigh as little as 7.7 pounds.
Better still, they utilize EcoFlow’s X-Stream technology, which allows them to recharge up to five times faster than the competition. According to the company, that translates to recharging a depleted battery to an 80% charge in as little as 48 minutes. That is significantly faster than most other models on the market.
“The launch of the River 2 series underlines EcoFlow’s commitment to meaningful innovation that solves real-life problems,” EcoFlow CEO Bruce Wang said in a press release. “With an uncertain economic and environmental outlook, we want to make clean, portable energy accessible to everyone, everywhere. The EcoFlow River 2 series makes this possible, offering practical, flexible, and affordable energy solutions for adventures in the great outdoors or during power outages at home.”
The River 2 and River 2 Max are available for purchase now for $239 and $469. The River 2 Pro will start shipping before the end of the year for $599.
Meanwhile, Cummins has announced the launch of its line of Onan Power Stations, which provide plenty of clean power on the go. Unlike the company’s gas-powered generators, these units are completely silent, don’t produce noxious fumes, and require very little maintenance. They also come in various sizes and are designed for use outdoors.
The Cummins Onan Power Station lineup includes five models, starting with the Onan PS160, which offers up to 150 watts of power and weighs just 3 pounds. The Onan PS200 jumps the peak wattage to 300, while the PS300 offers as much as 600 watts of portable juice. Finally, the PS600 can handle a power draw of up to 1200 watts, and the top-of-the-line PS1000 cranks out as much as 3000 watts of power. Each unit can be used to recharge smartphones, tablets, and laptops while camping off the grid.
“Cummins is proud to introduce Onan Power Stations to provide sustainable, battery-powered electricity, ideal for activities including camping, tailgating, and RV use, as well as electronics and appliances,” said Karla Haack, Vice President of Consumer Power Generation Sales in North America in a press release. “Cummins is a brand both home and RV owners trust for backup power, and our new power stations will provide this same reliable energy source, designed in lightweight, easy-to-transport models.”
All five Cummins Onan Power Stations are available now. Prices start at $139.99 for the PS160 and go as high as $1,399.99 for the PS1000. Additionally, the company has introduced 60-watt and 100-watt solar panels for charging in the field. Those units are priced at $189.00 and $294.00, respectively.
