COLUMBUS, Ind. – Cummins Inc. broke ground Tuesday on a $70 million expansion of its Olympic facility in Columbus, according to a report by Inside Indiana Business. The powertrain manufacturer says the effort will result in the creation of a small number of jobs.

The expansion will add 86,000 square feet to the building at 3540 W 450 S, known as OLY, and include the installation of new advanced testing equipment, Cummins said in a letter to city officials.

“The investment is essential to the future of the company and our Destination Zero strategy, which includes developing and testing internal combustion engines and powertrains powered by diesel, natural gas, hydrogen, and other fuels,” Cummins said in the letter. The expansion will be designed for future development and expansion of testing capability in the future.”
