The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) reports that RV wholesale shipments into Canada for the first quarter ending March 31, 2025, totaled 9,987 units, representing a 23.5% increase over the 8,806 units shipped during the same period in 2024.

According to data from Statistical Surveys Inc., as reported by the RVDA of Canada, retail RV activity during the first quarter reached 3,982 units. When compared to wholesale shipments, the data reflects a notable increase in Canadian RV dealer inventory levels during the quarter.

While it is typical for wholesale shipments to outpace retail activity during Q1 — as dealers prepare for the spring RV show season and the upcoming selling period—CRVA believes the substantial year-over-year growth is largely tied to dealer efforts to secure inventory ahead of anticipated countermeasure tariffs.

These tariffs, proposed by the Canadian government in early 2025, created significant uncertainty throughout February, March, and April. Dealers responded proactively by accelerating orders in an effort to avoid potential cost increases and supply chain disruptions.

At the same time, the RV industry continues to benefit from a renewed and growing interest in domestic travel, with more Canadians turning to RVing as a flexible, family-friendly, and immersive way to explore the country. This shift in travel behavior underscores the importance of maintaining a stable, accessible supply of RVs within Canada.

CRVA will continue to closely monitor shipment and retail activity trends, as well as developments related to trade policy, and will remain engaged with government stakeholders to advocate for policies that support our dealers, manufacturers and consumers.
