Matt and Karen Smith recently reshared their most-watched Instagram Reel from 2024, which racked up at least 48 million views. The topic? The couple shared some opinions about the U.S.’s national parks after completing a bucket-list quest to visit all 63 National Park Service (NPS)-managed sites with the “national park” designation.

For instance, the Smiths say they think the most diverse park is Olympic National Park, the best park for wildlife sightings is Yellowstone National Park, and the most underrated is Badlands National Park. They further provide opinions on the parks with the best and most unique hiking trails, in addition to crowning the “most enchanting” park, the “most other-worldly” park, the most “awe-inspiring” park, and the park that offers the “best of everything.”

Many people loved the Reel . . . and many people trolled them by saying their opinions were wrong. The couple’s response was great.

“People left more than 7800 comments, many of them telling us how our opinions were wrong and why we should have mentioned other parks instead,” the Smiths wrote in their Instagram post resharing the Reel. “We get it. Everyone who visits a national park has a different and unique experience, and no one’s list of favorites will be the same. People feel very deeply and passionately about our parks. That’s a good thing.”
