Chinook RV to Debut Bayside TB B-Van at Tampa RV Show

Building on the “overwhelming acceptance” of its Bayside SS — a Class B van conversion based upon the Ford Transit 4×4 platform — Peru, Ind.-based Chinook RV will be debuting an entirely new floorplan for the growing brand at the 2023 Florida RV SuperShow Jan. 18-22 in Tampa.

Like the original Bayside SS — introduced in mid-2022 — the new Bayside TB maintains the amenities that made the first entry into the series a hit, including a rear “dry” bath and a wealth of features included for comfortable off-grid camping. The Bayside TB, however, offers a mid-coach twin-bed arrangement that also allows for combining the two separate sleeping positions into a single queen-sized bed.

“A lot of consumers need to use the restroom at night, and a twin-bed set-up allows them to do so without having to awaken other occupants in order to access it,” said Seth Buchheit, factory sales representative for Chinook.

“Beyond that, having a ‘dry’ bath today in a van is unusual — nowadays it’s usually a ‘wet’ bath,” he added. “But not everyone is comfortable with that arrangement, and we were able to maintain the dry bath going forward. This floorplan also provides a lot more usage — it really opens up the back of the coach.”

The Bayside series also is built with a nod to dry camping. The new TB — built upon Ford’s 21-foot, 11-inch Transit four-wheel-drive platform — includes not only a Cummins Onan 2.8-kW generator but also 200 watts of solar power, 400 amp/hours of battery storage and a Xantrex 2,000-watt inverter with charger. A Truma Combi system provides water and air space heating. Even the 30-gallon freshwater tank is designed within the motorhome to help eliminate freezing water lines for four-seasons camping.

The Bayside TB also is available with an “adventure package” that includes a side-mounted ladder and roof rack.

“It’s an option, but we’re trying to put it on every one we build,” Buchheit said.

Other Bayside features include a Gerard awning and, inside, soft-padded interior walls and ceiling, a Lagun dining table, dimmable LED lighting and handcrafted, CNC-cut cabinetry. The galley includes a single induction cooktop, 6.2-cubic-foot Thetford refrigerator and 1.1-cubic-foot convection microwave oven. Designed to hit a price point “in the mid-$180,000 range” the new Chinook Class B also offers substantial cargo-carrying capacity. Built with an 11,000-pound GVWR, the Bayside TB weighs in at about 8,900 pounds dry.
