Caught on Trail Cam: Tapirs Attempt to Share Tiny Watering Hole

A couple of tapirs in Guatemala wanted to cool off in a small artificial watering hole . . . at the same time. It was a tight fit, but they gave it a go anyway. Thankfully, a trail cam was there to capture the funny wildlife moment.
The Wildlife Conservation Society shared trail-cam footage of the tapirs splashing around in circles as they both tried to enjoy the water. Technically they fit in the small pool, and maybe if they stopped moving they’d both be able to enjoy the water. It’s pretty funny!

“Room enough for 2,” joked the Wildlife Conservation Society in its Instagram post sharing the footage. “This is an artificial watering hole in the Maya Biosphere Reserve. Our @wcs_guatemala team monitors these with partners. As climate-induced droughts intensify, these spots provide critical relief to wildlife in need. Including a quick soak for this tapir duo.”
