Capitol Talk: Nexus RV to Add Towables Division in 2025 – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
In this episode of RVBusiness Capitol Talk, Claude Donati, the co-founder and managing partner for Nexus RV, tells RVB’s Rick Kessler and Sherman Goldenberg that the Elkhart-based Class C and Super C manufacturer was going to add towables to its lineup.
Beginning with fifth-wheels, the units will be part of Nexus’ Axiom Recreational Vehicle Division. While Axiom will share some services with Nexus, Donati explained, the towable division is going to be “totally separate – separate logo, separate brand names, separate workforce.” He expects the first prototypes sometime in the coming spring months, with production units rolling off the line for the 2026 model year.
“We’re going to start with the fifth-wheel toy hauler and the residential fifth-wheel segments,” he explained. “We want it to be a higher-end residential unit. We’re going to continue to embrace our structural integrity that we have – all steel cage construction – especially with what’s happened with some of the frame issues that some of the fifth-wheels are dealing with. We think we’re going to have an angle that’s going to help really give us a way to stand out from our competition.”
Donati said initial fifth-wheel models will likely run 40 to 45 feet long. He added that Nexus intends to eventually develop travel trailer lines, and all will feature laminated exteriors.
“One of the concerns or frustrations with Nexus RV is we’re a Class C manufacturer and we do build Super Cs and we have a large range of product within that segment, but it’s only 20,000 units a year,” said Donati. “There’s 350,000 units that are going to be built next year, and we’re really only competing for a very small, narrow part of that. This will allow us to get 86% increase in our customer possibilities, which is fun to think about for me.”
