With the 33rd Annual Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show underway, the retiring Bill Sheffer reflects on his longtime career with the Michigan RV & Campground Association (MARVAC) with Sherm Goldenberg and Rick Kessler of RVBusiness in this episode of RVBusiness Capitol Talk, a series is sponsored by Dicor Products.
The Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show, which started Wednesday, runs through Sunday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Mich. The show features hundreds of RVs on display, including folding campers, motorhomes, travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth-wheels, and a park model. Also multiple booth exhibitors featuring parts, accessories, and campground information make this the complete RV show experience.
MARVAC President & CEO Jon Lindley was interviewed by WDIV, the NBC television affiliate on Detroit, about the RV show earlier this week and said the latest trends in RVs include outdoor kitchens and off-road capability.
“RVing has never been more popular,” Lindley said. “Here in Michigan, we rank fourth in the country in RVing and camping. COVID has had a lot of impact globally, but one thing it did was it pushed people outside. So, now you have people who have rediscovered the outdoors or discovered the outdoors for the first time. It truly has never been more popular than it is now.”
