Campground Owners Asked to Take Part in Industry Survey

WCM LogoWoodall’s Campground Magazine (WCM), a sister publication to RVBusiness, has launched its inaugural Outdoor Hospitality Survey which aims to gather key data from park owners/operators on some of the challenges and successes they have worked through over the past year.

Sponsored by the RV Industry Association (RVIA), WCM hopes that the data will provide insight into marketing, management, staffing trends and more, as owners continue to work through a very busy period for the outdoor hospitality industry. Modeled after a similar report that was released at the end of the summer, WCM looks forward to making this an annual survey that will chart issues facing park owners/operators.

The survey is available for park owners/operators to take until Nov. 11. It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and can be accessed here: https://surveys.cairnconsultinggroup.com/s3/2022-Outdoor-Hospitality-Survey

“We know park owners and operators are facing a myriad of challenges amid a record surge in guests to campgrounds, RV parks and glamping parks,” said Ben Quiggle, WCM’s editor. “Our hope is that this survey’s insights will allow the industry in general to see the challenges that park owners/operators face, the areas they are succeeding in and what is coming down the pipeline as parks continue to add new amenities.” RVIA

WCM is working with Scott Bahr, president of Cairn Consulting Group, and Billie McNamara, a research consultant at the firm and manager of Loon’s Haven Family Campground in Naples, Maine, to compile the data. Bahr is responsible for collecting the data for Kampgrounds of America Inc.’s annual North American Camping Report, which is released every spring.

WCM plans to release the data from the survey in its January issue, which comes out in mid-December, as well as through its social media channels and on its website at WOODALLSCM.com. WCM will also be eliciting feedback so that it can continue to refine the survey for future iterations.

“We are hoping to have as many owners as possible submit responses to the survey and WCM is working with its state association partners and others in the industry to get the survey in front of as many owners as possible,” explained Quiggle. “WCM knows park owners are busy, but our hope is that they will take 10-15 minutes to complete the survey.”

All participants have the option of leaving their contact information and receiving an executive summary of the survey’s results before it is released to the general public.
