Boston RV Show Opening Thursday with Big Expectations – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
BOSTON – The 2024 Boston RV & Camping Expo – one of the RV industry’s top shows and bellwether for the season’s prospects – opens tomorrow, Jan. 25, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Massachusetts.
For more than 50 years, the Boston RV & Camping Expo has served as an early season kickoff for manufacturers and dealers in the Northeast. Traditionally held during the Dr. Martin Luther King holiday weekend, this year’s event has been pushed back a week to accommodate a venue scheduling conflict.
“As it turns out, the forecast for the weekend looks perfect,” said Bob Zagami, executive director of the New England RV Dealers Association (NERVDA), which serves as the event’s presenters. “There’s no snow expected, temperatures will be unseasonable warm, and we anticipate a crowd. Our dealers have been reporting very good traffic in December and January, and we think it will be a time to get out and spend a little money. We are cautiously optimistic. ”
Last year’s show attracted about 16,000 attendees. Zagami estimates this year’s crowd will be slightly larger, “based on what I see and the response to our promotions, our best guess is 16,000 to 18,000 visitors.” To help reach this goal, NERVDA has upped its promotional efforts with increased social media, radio commercials, and discount coupons available through participating dealerships.
The display floor will be packed with approximately 200 units, including small trailers, camper vans, and more traditional towables and motorhomes from virtually all manufacturers.
Participating dealers include Airstream of Maine and New Hampshire, Campers Inn, Cold Springs RV, Mercedes Benz of Scarborough, Pete’s RV, Seacoast RV, and Tim’s RV.
Of course, education and entertainment are a big part of the show experience. Among this year’s show highlights:
- For the first time in recent show history, visitors can enter a drawing to win a new Winnebago Hike 100 travel trailer, valued at $30,000, provided by Seacoast RVs, Inc.
- As special presenter, Wall Street Journal best-selling author and speaker David Meerman Scott (Fanocracy) will share with the audience how to use your Class B to enjoy extreme outdoor activities off-grid.
- Additionally, show attendees can enjoy a full slate of seminars, including presentations by Mike Sokol, founder of RV Electricity; Randy Murray, director of operations, Pete’s RV; Ryan Hadley, owner of TRIC Mobile Services; and Camper to Camper, a panel of “real campers answering all your RV/camping questions.”
- Returning for the second year will be a special live presentation of RVing New England, planned for Saturday morning, January 27, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM.
