Black Book: Wholesale RV Values Mixed as Spring Arrives – RVBusiness – Breaking RV Industry News
Black Book, which publishes a family of vehicle appraisal guides, has released the Black Book RV market commentary for April.
“The average values for Motorhomes and Towables sold at auction were mixed once again last month, but in the opposite way from which they were the month before, with Motorhomes decreasing while Towables finally managed an increase, snapping a three-month losing streak,” notes Eric Lawrence, principal automotive analyst, specialty vehicles. “Dealers we have spoken to have told us they are stocking up on Towables for the expected rush of Spring buyers.”
Taking a closer look at the markets, we see that the average selling price for Motorhomes was $54,851, which is down $8,495 (13.4%) from the previous month. Towables came in at $17,660, up $1,745 (10.9%) from last month. One year ago the average motorhome sold for $55,203 and the average towable brought $18,167.
Auction volume was up significantly: motorhomes increased 28.4% while towables rose 16.4%.
The average age of motorhomes was ten years old (2015) and towables was five (2020).
