BioLite BaseCharge Power Stations are Better—and More Affordable—Than Ever
When we reviewed the BioLite BaseCharge 1500 portable power station sometime back, we were impressed with its specs, build quality, and ease of use. Despite the device being the company’s first foray into this highly competitive market, it got all of the essentials right, delivering an excellent option for anyone looking for power on the go. Fast forward nearly two years, and BioLite is back with new models that not only bring better performance but also a more affordable prices.
Launching today, the all-new BaseCharge 600+ and 1500+ offer everything we loved about the original models, plus significantly faster charging speeds. Just how much faster? According to BioLite, these new models can charge up to four times quicker compared to their predecessors. For the 600+, that translates to just 2.5 hours to fully replenish its 622Wh battery. Meanwhile, the 1521Wh power cell found in the BaseCharge 1500+ can go from zero to full in about three hours time.
As with the first-generation BaseCharge power stations, these new “plus” models include plenty of charging ports. Both offer a wireless charging pad integrated into the top, along with two 12V DC barrel charging ports, a 12V DC vehicle port, two USB-A 5V ports, a 5V USB-C port, and a 100W USB-C PD port. The 600+ power station also has two 120V AC outlets, while the 1500+ comes with three of those same outlets. This allows these units to recharge mobile devices, small electronics, and laptops while also running portable refrigerators, drones, coffee makers, and other appliances.
BioLite claims that the new power stations are among the lightest in their respective classes. The 600+ tips the scales at just 13 lbs, and the 1500+ weighs in at 26.5 lbs, which is quite svelte for their battery size and output. Both units also utilize lithium-iron phosphate (LiFePO4) power cells, which are not only safer than other types of batteries but also have a ten-year lifecycle even with daily use.
As noted above, the new BioLite power stations arrive at more affordable prices, too. The BaseCharge 600+ sells for just $599, while the BaseCharge 1500+ has an MSRP of $1,299. Those are very competitive price points, particularly considering the features, specs, weight, and outstanding build quality these devices offer. Both units are available to order today, although, at press time, they were already backordered three to four weeks due to heavy demand.
