An Arizona Nonprofit is Giving Away a Custom Camper Van Worth $250K

Arizona-based nonprofit A Race Against Blindness has launched an amazing fundraising campaign to end 2023. To support its efforts to combat a rare genetic condition that causes a loss of eyesight, the organization is giving away a custom camper van worth more than $250,000. And all you have to do to throw your name into the drawing is donate to this very important cause.

Steve and Kristina Johnson founded a Race Against Blindness after they discovered their son was born with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome. Usually diagnosed in early childhood, BBS causes a loss of peripheral and night vision over time and can sometimes lead to complete blindness. With that in mind, the couple launched the nonprofit to raise awareness of BBS and other rare diseases that often don’t receive enough funding to help find a cure.

For 2023, the team at A Race Against Blindness joined forces with Adventure Van for a very special fundraiser. Donations to the organization earn entries into a raffle-style giveaway of a tricked-out Sprinter van with a long list of features and amenities. Alternatively, the winner can choose to work with the custom Class B builder instead, creating a dream model to meet their specific needs.

Donors will earn a certain number of entries based on how much money they give to the cause. For instance, a $25 donation earns ten entries in the drawing, while $100 provides 50 chances to win. There are multiple tiers to choose from, all the way up to 1,000 entries for $1,000. The winner will be randomly selected from all of the entries on January 1, 2024.

Should the winner elect to take the camper van that is already built, they’ll have the benefit of driving it home immediately. That vehicle comes with 400W solar panels, 600Ah lithium batteries, and a 3200W inverter. It is surprisingly roomy, too, with room to sleep six. Other features include a microwave, induction cooktop, mini-fridge, a full-size shower, a 12V Dometic air conditioner, and a diesel furnace.

If the winner decides to work with Adventure Van to build their own custom RV, they’ll have $250,000 to spend on their project. That process will take anywhere from six to nine months, however, so more patience is required. No matter which option they go with, the winner will also walk away with $70,000 in cash to help cover taxes.

All donations through the end of the year will be eligible for the drawing. Visit the A Race Against Blindness website to find out more and contribute to this important cause. Who knows, you may be the one who drives away in a new camper van.
