BOSTON – A year after 2022’s COVID restrictions were lifted from organizers of the Boston RV & Camping Expo, which concluded Monday after a Jan. 13-16 run at the 516,000-square-foot Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the 2023 round of the bellwether New England show is drawing positive reviews from Bob Zagami, executive director of the New England RV Dealers Association (NERVDA).

“We were amazed at the size of the crowds, the number of RVs being sold and the smiling faces on show attendees, dealer sales professionals, and manufacturer reps,” Zagami said in a statement regarding the Boston Show, which is owned and produced by the Paragon Group. “As the first unencumbered show since the pandemic, it felt like our 2020 show that was held two months before the country was struck with the Covid-19 virus.

“One of the manufacturer reps was heard to say, ‘What Recessions?’” added Zagami. “The atmosphere was electric with most of our dealers reporting that they had met or surpassed their show objectives by Sunday evening and added to those totals on Monday – the last day of the show.”

While RVBusiness was unable to reach other show attendees for comment on Tuesday (Jan. 17) morning prior to its daily news feed – as Zagami and we were hoping – it does appear that the Boston Show, not unlike Cleveland, South Bend and a number of other venues, proved to be yet another retail forum exceeding expectations in early 2023.

“While we don’t have final numbers yet,” he added, “we think they will match or exceed the terrific show we had in 2020 that drew over 17,000 attendees to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. This is what we hoped for, and it provides a springboard to success for our NERVDA dealers as they now follow up with prospects and have their own open house activities in the weeks ahead.

“Dealers are already inquiring about more space in our 2024 show,” Zagami told RVB. “They read the market right and are well situated to meet consumer demand with full inventories, new financial programs and well trained sales professionals to help consumers buy their first, or next, RV. My seminar, ‘Introduction to RVs and the RV Lifestyle,’ showed that 50% of the attendees were attending their very first RV show, and 90% of them do not currently own an RV.”
