A Whole Bunch of Cattle Got Loose on a Texas Freeway

No fewer than 31 steer (male neutered cattle) escaped from a trailer that was transporting them and then ran loose on a Texas freeway earlier this week. Photos on X of the steer running between vehicles stalled in traffic are pretty funny.

Bryce Newberry, a reporter with NBC Houston, shared two photos of the mayhem on X. He said at the time of his post that there were still six steer at large. Newberry further explains that the steer had left the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when they broke loose from the trailer.

About 20 minutes after Newberry’s post, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted that wildlife officials had caught up all the rogue cattle. Phew. What an interesting sight this must have been for all those cars on the freeway.
