Late Summer Camping at Ontario Parks

Parks OntarioA Special Feature from our friends at Ontario Parks

Take advantage of great weather and book a last-minute camping trip before summer ends. While most visitors book campsites 5 months ahead of time, a last-minute booking is always an option at Ontario Parks and many parks have campsites available in late August.

Voyageur Provincial Park in Southeastern Ontario is close to Ottawa and Montreal, and features four beaches, RV and tent campsites, and a huge day-use area. For a family-friendly camping trip near Toronto, Earl Rowe Provincial Park is a short drive away.

Close to Kirkland Lake, Esker Lakes Provincial Park offers hiking and paddling in a landscape formed by ancient waters. For avid paddlers, Missinaibi Provincial Park offers both car camping and back country camping options.

For road trippers, parks in Northwestern Ontario are among the most beautiful and rarely fill to 100% even in summer. Visit up to 9 different parks on the Northwestern Driving Route.

The Ontario Parks Discovery Programs are engaging events that encourage park visitors to discover the natural world around them through staff-led programs, self-led activities, and interpretive displays.

Discovery Kits are one way for children (and adults) to discover more on their own by borrowing an Explorer Kit, Art in the Park Kit or Night Sky Kit.

The kits are available to rent at 45 different Ontario Parks this summer.

For an expert-led program, Ontario Parks naturalists offer guided hikes, evening presentations and interpretive programs at many parks with enhanced Discovery Programs.

View the Ontario Parks events calendar to see what Discovery programs are happening in August and September.
