8 Campgrounds to Watch This Year’s Solar Eclipse
Recreational astronomers unite. We are just months away from what’s being dubbed as the Great North American Eclipse.
For those who’ve been “kept in the dark,” a total solar eclipse (when the moon completely blocks the sun from the Earth) will cover parts of North America on April 8th, and last around four and a half magical minutes. The eclipse itself will be visible along a path spanning from Texas to New Brunswick, so we figured we’d scout out a few spots to catch the action.
Here’s a quick list of eight campgrounds that would make for a great front-row ticket to the celestial show.
Ceraland Park & Campground
Columbus, IN
Ceraland Park has a little bit of everything in one place. With 326 campsites and six cabins, 18 holes of mini golf, an aquatics center, a boat dock, a gym, and a driving range all spanning 345 acres, you definitely won’t be bored.
Camping Panoramic
Edmundston, NB
Located on the Madawaska River, Camping Panoramic offers a scenic view complimented by a nearby botanical garden. Not to mention they’re in close proximity to a railroad and antique car museum. If nothing else, you can just relax and enjoy a tranquil bike ride along the riverside.
Camping Paradis de la P’tite Montagne
Saint-Andre, NB
Only eight minutes away from the Grand Falls in New Brunswick, Camping Paradis de la P’tite Montagne is a family-friendly excuse to enjoy some time on the water. With lake access, waterslides, an inflatable water course, and more, it’ll definitely be a “splash.”
Pirate’s Haven RV Park & Chalets
Robinsons, NL
With a name like Pirate’s Haven, it has to be adventurous. So if you want to kick it up a notch from just stargazing, consider an ATV tour along stunning coastlines. Or if you’re looking to relax, you can enjoy one of their several fly-fishing packages, glamping options, or a meal in the Longhouse Restaurant.
Wood’s Tall Timber Resort
New Philadelphia, OH
If you want to mix up something exciting with something relaxing, Wood’s Tall Timber Resort might be your one-stop shop. You can zipline through the forest one day, and then make an outing to the local Amish community the next. And football fans would be remiss to not visit the Hall of Fame over in Canton.
PEI Provincial Parks
Charlottetown, PE
Catching a sunset on Prince Edward Island is pretty magical, so one can only imagine what it would be like to catch a total eclipse. If you’re wanting to disconnect for a few days, some time on the beach or hiking the trails will do your soul some good.
Camping Transit
Levis, QC
Camping Transit offers over 210 campsites in the heart of Chaudière-Appalaches near Old Quebec. They also have shuttle options to take you to and from, so really all you have to do is get there and relax.
Camping Vallee Bleue Resort
West Brome, QC
At the center of the eastern township, Camping Vallee Bleue Resort boasts a variety of pastimes from vineyards, to music festivals, nearby national parks, waterfront access, and everything you love about the outdoors.
