Go RVing Seeks Manufacturer Input on Market Outlook

RESTON, Va. – Go RVing emailed a short questionnaire to representatives of RV manufacturers and OEMs on Thursday asking for input on the current state of RV market output compared to this time last year.

The six-question survey is designed to give Go RVing a sense of current market conditions for its OEM and RV manufacturer members, according to, director of strategic marketing for Go RVing.

Courtney Bias

“Some of the questions are whether they are … ahead in orders, behind in orders, or they’re right in line with last year,” she said. The survey also asks about the demand for specific types of RVs and what parts of the country are experiencing demand for RVs, she adds.

Go RVing asks that participating RV manufacturer and supplier members complete and return their anonymous surveys by Tuesday. Bias said that Go RVing will compile the results and present the findings to Go RVing board members who will be meeting on Wednesday during the RV Dealers Assocation Convention in Las Vegas.

“And the idea is that we’ll be able to use this information to kind of guide our strategy,” Bias said. “For example, if we see that there’s an influx of (demand for) travel trailers, we can adapt our creatives to be heavier in that travel trailer category. Or we can scale up to meet some of these market conditions or scale it back. So, the survey is really a ‘temperature check’ to gauge what’s happening for our members and where we need to maybe adjust our media presence.”

These days, Go RVing can tweak its media campaign any time during the year thanks in large part to its social media outlets, Bias noted. “We can be very flexible, very nimble,” she said, adding that is in marked contrast to several years ago, when Go RVing was generally locked into its advertising campaign with print magazines and TV advertisers early in the year.

Moving forward, Go RVing intends to do this survey of its OEM and RV manufacturer members quarterly, according to Sarah Neely, senior communications and marketing leader for Go RVing. She said the new Go RVing survey will be complementary to the monthly surveys of RV dealer sentiment that are performed by the investment firm Baird in conjunction with RVDA.
