SANTA FE, N.M. – Family-owned Earth Traveler Teardrop Trailers of Santa Fe is seeking investors, a merger or acquisition in order to industrialize the process of producing lightweight, 300-pound fiberglass composite trailers for camping, according to a report in the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Husband-and-wife founders Angel Irlanda and Laura Esteves sent out requests for proposals five months ago to recreational vehicle manufacturers seeking a $750,000 investment or a merger or acquisition.

So far, seven Earth Travelers are on the road, with another roughly 20 orders in place. Earth Traveler as of three months ago is selling all trailers through Princess Craft RV in Round Rock, Texas, after taking orders directly from customers, Esteves said.

Since launching Earth Traveler in 2017, Irlanda has made all the parts and assembled them in-house. Irlanda and Esteves are seeking investors to outsource parts production and making the molds.

“We want to just assemble the parts,” Esteves said.

One year ago, it took Irlanda three or four months to make a trailer. Now the pace is about one trailer a month, and with investors, he believes he can ship out three trailers a month.

Irlanda and Esteves have one full-time employee and two part-time employees.
