Boreas Campers XT a ‘Perfect Sag Wagon’ for Utah Bike Trip

The XT by Boreas Campers was the “perfect sag wagon” for 10 bikers (13 people total) on a recent trip on the White Rim Trail in Utah, according to a release from the Pueblo, Colo.-based manufacturer of off-road and off-grid camper trailers. Check out the trip report for all the ways the XT helped make the journey an epic adventure.

The White Rim in the Canyonlands of Utah is an iconic 4×4 and mountain biking destination. The party was eager to see the canyons, arches, towers and river views from this famed trail. A volunteer driver for the truck and camper helped keep spirits stoked.

The truck and camper carried the tent, sleeping bags, gear, food and drinks for the entire crew so no one had to ride with packs on their bikes. With over 44 cubic feet of storage between the toolbox and cabin, there was no need to leave extra snacks and goodies behind. Participants were glad to have the glow-in-the-dark bocce at camp, too.

The Cruisemaster independent suspension and all terrain tires handled the off-road terrain with aplomb, and the DO35 articulating hitch and extended tongue of the camper made the switchbacks at Shaffer, Hardscrabble and Mineral Bottom a breeze.

The Truma cooler kept perishable food safe and drinks cold. Having the full kitchen meant meals were ready in 5-10 minutes after stopping, and coffee was quickly available in the mornings. The 30-gallon onboard water tank ensured everyone stayed hydrated.

The 23Zero awning provided shade during the heat of the day in the desert and relief from the freezing rain when the weather turned.

The Zamp solar panel and Battle Born battery allowed the phones to be recharged after taking pictures all day.

The Propex furnace in the cabin kept those sleepers toasty warm during the chilly October desert nights.

The 1UP bike rack on the front hitch receiver kept the backup bike safe and sound.

The instant hot water shower came in handy on the third day when rain and flash floods gunked up the bike gears and derailleurs with clay mud, and rinsing them off was invaluable.

“Supporting a large group on the iconic White Rim Trail is what the XT was built for. With the heavy duty frame to handle off-road terrain, the components to be self sufficient off the grid, and the creature comforts to be comfortable in all types of conditions – it is the perfect adventure basecamp,” said Matt Reichel, Boreas Campers founder, president and Sag Wagon Driver.
