Massive Icicle Falls From Frozen Waterfall, Landing on Tourists
A huge icicle fell from a frozen waterfall in China, injuring at least one person. Over a dozen tourists were standing directly beneath the ice formation at Heishancha Waterfall when large sections of it broke off, crashing on top of them. Besides the people directly under the icicle, many more tourists at the base of the falls had to flee from the cascading snow after the ice’s impact.

According to China Daily, one person slipped and got injured while fleeing from the snow and ice. The unfortunate incident happened earlier this month on January 4, and China Daily says officials “wasted no time, closing off the area, adding safety tape, and deploying 24/7 staff patrols to ensure visitor safety.”
Some reports suggest tourists had ignored signage warning people not to get too close to the frozen waterfall. There appears to be at least one child among the folks who were gathered beneath the dangerous ice.
