As of Tuesday, Nov. 26, there were 42 new confirmed cases of chronic wasting disease in hunter-harvested deer in 2024 and 34 suspected cases – all in known-CWD zones primarily in the southeastern part of Minnesota.
DPAs 646, 647, and 648 are seeing the most cases with 12, 13, and nine, respectively. Additionally, DPA 645 has four confirmed cases, DPA 649 has three cases, and 642 has one confirmed case. Right now, according to Erik Hildebrand, the Minnesota DNR’s wildlife health supervisor, the 2024 season clearly is trending to have more cases than last year’s total of 44 positives.
