Innovative Use of Technology Keeps Northwood Ahead of the Competition

If you’re familiar with Northwood Manufacturing, it’s probably because of its line of outstanding RVs. The company builds some of the best four-season towables and truck campers on the market, including the excellent Arctic Fox Edge and Nash travel trailers. But what you might not know is that Northwood is also one of the most innovative brands in the RV space, using a variety of technologies to make life on the road better for its customers.

No where is this more evident than with the company’s FoxForward multiplexing platform. Available as an option on the Arctic Fox Grande Ronde, North Fork, Origin, and Rapid and standard equipment on the Edge, this smart system is integrated directly into the units, allowing RVers to monitor and control a myriad of onboard features, including holding tanks, house batteries, inverters, and more. An LED touchscreen displays a wide variety of information and makes it easy to adjust settings on these systems, like how much power is being routed through the built-in inverter, for example.

The FoxForward platform provides control over a range of other features, too. For instance, it can be used to turn the RV’s lights off and on, extend slide-outs, deploy awnings, and activate the onboard water heater. The system also provides alerts for when your freshwater tank is getting low or the lithium house batteries are running out of power, keeping users informed of issues that could potentially disturb an otherwise enjoyable camping trip.

All of this information and control is accessible via an intuitive, easy-to-understand interface. Northwood owners can also connect to the FoxForward system using an app on their smartphones, which puts even more convenience at their fingertips.

FoxForward isn’t the only technology that Northwood is using to distinguish its RVs from the competition. All models now come standard with the company’s Sol X 4 power system, which includes 400 watts of solar standard from the factory. If they need more power, owners can elect to upgrade in 200-watt increments, jumping to 600, 800, or 1000 watts based on their needs.

Those solar panels can be connected to an optional 12V 2000W inverter or a 3000W model paired with a 400Ah lithium battery. Additional 100Ah and 400Ah batteries can be added to augment power storage capacity, allowing Northwood’s travel trailers, fifth-wheels, and truck campers to stay off-grid for extended periods. The inverter/battery combo even includes remote monitoring and control via a smartphone app.

Both the FoxForward and Sol X power systems bring convenience and value to Northwood RVs. Beyond that, however, they make life at the campsite better, providing easy ways to monitor and control an array of important systems, and keep the vehicle powered and operational while traveling off-grid. Something veteran and new RVers alike can appreciate.
