Tiger Run RV Resort: A Dream Vacation in Colorado
When you think about a Colorado vacation, your mind probably goes to ski resorts and winter activities. But this state has a lot to offer the entire year, making it a perfect destination for anybody who loves camping in the mountains. And Tiger Run RV Resort is a premium campground that’s open all year long.
This resort is incredibly popular, with some of the best reviews we’ve seen. It’s located in the town of Breckenridge, which is a hot spot for mountaineers throughout the year. As such, it’s the perfect place to set up camp, regardless of whether you’re there for a ski trip, a summer hike, or just to explore the nearby towns.
Most RVers are used to campgrounds and RV parks that are fairly basic. They’re a good place to park for the night, but don’t offer a lot of perks. But this resort pulls out all the stops with a fantastic location, premium campsites, a laundry list of amenities, and much more. Once you check in, you might not ever want to leave.
Overview
Tiger Run RV Resort is located about two hours away from Denver, so you can easily visit the city on your trip to or from the resort. Smaller cities in the vicinity include Silverthorne, Frisco, and Vail. Many of these are also worth a visit, especially if you want to check out a variety of different ski resorts during your stay.
This resort is quite large, with 182 RV sites available. All sites are paved and level, plus they come with full hookups. Big rigs are also welcome here, with the largest campsites measuring 75 feet long.
Colorado does experience cold winters (which is why it’s such a great destination for skiers and snowboarders). But although many campgrounds in northern area shut down in the winter, Tiger Run RV Resort is open all year long. The nearby forest changes with the seasons, leading to gorgeous views and a variety of activities throughout the year.
Rates
Now because this is a resort, the prices are a bit higher than a standard campground. Just be prepared for that if you want to stay here. A variety of different site types and rentals are offered here. Some are only for RVs that are less than 35 feet long, while others are specifically designed for big rigs.
The rates here also fluctuate based on the season, the day of the week, and whether there are holidays during your visit. Summer is the most popular and expensive season to visit, so you might want to consider booking in the fall or winter to save some cash.
There is a big range to consider, and the rates for RV sites can cost anywhere from $65–$160 per night. Cabins are also available and they can cost $160–$350 per night depending on the size you reserve. It all comes down to timing and the type of rental you need.
Reservations are available in advance and you can explore photos and site information on the resort website at tigerrunresort.com. Detailed price breakdowns and up-to-date availability are also visible on this portal.
Amenities
A triple-digit reservation fee can definitely raise some eyebrows. So what makes this resort worth the cost? The amenities!
One of the best amenities is the location. The owners appreciate the natural beauty of the Colorado mountains, so they were careful to incorporate trees, landscaping, and rustic-style buildings into the park. All of the structures here have a cozy log-cabin style, while still providing modern comforts.
The Blue River winds around the park, while the Swam river cuts through it! Multiple sites have waterfront views and you’ll have easy access to wading, fishing, and swimming.
In addition to full hookups, each site also has a small pavilion with a concrete patio, a fire pit, an outdoor table, and attractive landscaping. These campsites have a good amount of separation and from the neighbors so you can really feel like it’s your space to unwind in.
The resort clubhouse is open 24 hours a day and it includes features like a fitness center, hot tubs, a swimming pool, and more. Showers and a modern laundromat are also available for everyone to use.
Pets are welcome at Tiger Run RV Resort and there is a dog park on-site, as well as multiple doggie boxes throughout the property. A long walking trail winds around the park as well. This is a perfect place to stretch your legs and get out your dog’s extra energy.
Additional amenities include:
- Wi-Fi
- Great cell phone coverage for most carriers
- Large rental pavilion (seasonal)
- Community fire pit
- Sand volleyball
- Tennis courts
- Horseshoes
- Game room (pool, air hockey, arcade games, etc)
- Playground
- Propane
Nearby Activities/Attractions
Breckenridge is a hotspot all throughout the year and there’s plenty to do during your visit. Many people are drawn to the local ski hills like Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and of course, Breckenridge Ski Resort.
Other winter activities include dog sledding, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and visiting the various shops and indoor attractions in the main town. And although Denver is a bit far away, it’s still within striking distance if you want to explore a bigger city.
In warmer weather, you can take advantage of the outdoors by hiking, fishing, birding, geocaching, white-water rafting, mountain biking, and more. Colorado is a dream vacation for everyone who loves the outdoors.
And you’re looking for an interesting day trip, you can tour a real gold mine, visit the Breckenridge Nordic Center, or ride the BreckConnect Gondola.
Reviews
Tiger Run RV Resort is nicknamed “Summit’s Best Kept Secret” but it seems like the secret is out. Hundreds of guests have left reviews for this campground and it seems like people can’t say enough good things about their experience.
On RV Life Campgrounds, the park has earned a score of 8.6/10 with the vast majority of reviewers ranking it as “Excellent.” It also has an overall 4.3/5 score from Good Sam for the bathrooms, facility, and overall appeal.

Each site had a spacious and luxurious feeling. Many reviewers also enjoyed the amenities that were offered and said that they felt that the price was appropriate for what they got.
Of course, not everyone was fully satisfied. It’s important to look at the full picture of the reviews, and some people didn’t feel that they got their money’s worth here. There are also some restrictions on the types of RVs that are allowed.
For example, truck campers, pop-out trailers, and tents are not allowed.
Despite these drawbacks, the general agreement is that Tiger Run RV Resort is one of the best camping destinations in Colorado. It’s a high-end park that’s quiet, comfortable, and surrounded by nature on all sides.
