RV News: Grand Design Expands Transcend Line, New Fifth-Wheels from Living Vehicle, and More
Another week has come and gone, with plenty happening in the RV and camping space. But our weekly Friday round-up is here to help you sort through all of the important news and announcements that took place over the last seven days. Here are a few things you might like to know:
- Grand Design Expands Transcend Travel Trailer Line: It has been a busy summer for Grand Design. The company not only launched its first motorized RV, but now it has announced the expansion of its Transcend Xplor line of travel trailers. Previously, this model only fell under the Xplor umbrella, but not it will come in two new flavors—the Transcend One and Transcend. GD will fill each segment with unique floorplans and designs, with the Transcend One line starting at $19,845, the redesigned Transcend Xplor coming in at $28,032, and the larger Transcend series priced at $41,902. - Living Vehicle Launches GT Series Fifth-Wheel Trailers: Luxury RV maker Living Vehicle further expanded its catalog of towables this week by introducing the GT Series of Fifth-Wheel trailers. The line consists of the all-new GT32 and GT39 models, both of which blend upscale amenities with high-tech features designed to be environmentally friendly and off-grid ready. Both use components more likely to be found on high-end yachts, including plush reclining chairs, 70″ entertainment centers, integrated Starlink, and a spa-inspired bathroom. They also offer as much as 5kWh of solar and 72kWh of power storage. Find out more here.
- KOA Tempts Campers with Fall Promotion: Starting to plan your fall camping trips? Maybe you should put Kampgrounds of America on your list of places to stop. For September, KOA is offering visitors who are a part of its KOA Rewards program double the points they would normally receive. The campground chain started autumn a little early this year, with promo kicking off on August 12. That means you can book now to double your rewards points, which can be used for discounted reservations and even free stays. Learn more here.

- Rivian Reveals Electric Tailgate Kitchen: When the Rivian R1T electric truck was first announced, the company also promised to ship an electric camp kitchen that pulled out of the pickup’s gear tunnel. That product has mostly been MIA, but this week the EV startup revealed a new option for camp chefs. The all-new Rivian travel kitchen integrates on the truck’s tailgate and taps into its battery pack for power. The add-on includes a two-burner inductive cook top, a stowable cutting board, organizational drawers, and a towel bar. The unit runs off 120V power and costs $1,400. Click here to find out more.
- RVers Trust Other RVers Over Traditional Marketing: The latest Monthly Trends Report from Go RVing shares some insights on how RVers feel about industry marketing efforts. According to the report, 92% of consumers are more likely to trust word of mouth and user-generated content over traditional brand marketing. Because of this, there has been a rise in influencer marketing in recent years, which is expected to grow to to $35 billion this year.

- Leisure Travel Vans Salutes “Triple Diamond” Dealers: This week, Leisure Travel Vans honored its top dealers by giving them 2024 Triple Diamond Award status. The annual program recognizes the dealers that have achieved the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction. This year’s award winners include Van City RV of St. Louis, Holland Motor Homes in Holland, MI, and Howard RV Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, amongst others. For the complete list, click here.
- Harvest Hosts Acquires Escapees RV Club: In a surprise move this week, members-only online campground booking site Harvest Hosts has announced the acquisition of the Escapees RV Club. Founded in 1978, Escapees has been a mainstay in the RV space for more than 45 years, organizing events, camping outings, educational seminars, and more. How the two organizations will work together moving forward remains to be seen, but the possibilities certainly are intriguing.
