Campspot Surpasses 3 Million Campsite Reservations in ’22

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Last year solidified Campspot’s designation as North America’s largest reservations platform and software provider for private campgrounds, according to a press release.

The company drove record reservations in 2022, surpassing more than three million gross campsite reservations made across the platform. With camping demand continuing to grow in the face of rising travel costs and inflationary pressures, Campspot also added over 700 campgrounds to its own marketplace in 2022, which now offers more than 205,000 campsites for consumers to book directly via its website or app., the release stated.

The industry took notice, naming Campspot the 2022 ARVC Supplier of the Year and AGA Glamping Award Winner for Technology of the Year. The company was also listed on the Inc. 5000 List of Fastest Growing Companies and the Forbes List of America’s Best Startup Employers, representing the only startup company serving the camping industry.

“The Campspot team has worked incredibly hard to reach these milestone achievements,” said Michael Scheinman, CEO of Campspot. “We never lost sight of the fact that all the growth in the world isn’t meaningful if we’re not also delivering against a bigger objective. Our goal from day one has been to provide a more modern, unparalleled camping booking experience, and we’ve made incredible strides in 2022 to solidify our position as the platform of choice for campers and campgrounds.”

Campspot successfully launched more than 20 new software features for its campground customers in 2022 focused on increasing revenue and driving efficiency across day-to-day campground management operations. These include recent integrations with some of the most visited travel websites in the world, a proprietary online booking API that enables groups to aggregate their properties onto their own websites, a highly requested integration with email leader Mailchimp, and a suite of improved visual growth and performance dashboards.

“Since our founding, the platform Campspot has built has been hyper focused on the user,” said Megan Winfield who was named Campspot’s new Chief Technology Officer in December. “We continuously prioritize feedback from our customers to make our software better, to drive revenue for our partners, and to build new features. We’re also keeping a close eye on where the overall travel and hospitality industry is heading to determine what’s resonating with travelers, and bring that to Campspot.”

Campspot campgrounds earned more than $33 million via add-on revenue alone in 2022 by offering additional experiences or amenities through the Campspot platform to create more value for campground visitors, while net reservations for parks with less than 100 campsites grew 38% or more between 2021 and 2022. At the same time, the ratio of online to phone reservations on Campspot has increased 57% since 2020, and campgrounds saved more than 12,000 hours of time spent on the phone thanks to Campspot’s best-in-class technology platform that automatically finds efficiencies to simplify operations. With more product advancements to come in 2023, Campspot is primed to support the camping industry as it, and the more than 12,000 private campgrounds across America, increasingly transition to online operations.
