SSI: Retail Sales Continue to Normalize through November

Booking.com

There were 21,685 retail registrations in November 2022, a 24.7% decrease compared to the 28,836 units last November, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company that tracks retail and consumer data for the RV industry.

Year-to-date, there have been 429,295 retail registrations, which is off 20.6% compared to the 541,191 units posted during the same period a year ago.

For reference, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) reported that total RV shipments in November 2022 was 24,445 units and 472,691 year-to-date.

The November 2022 retail registration figure, generally speaking, coincides with the industry’s return to a more normal trajectory, in which the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021 have proven to be an aberration to this multi-year pattern of growth (see chart at bottom).
