For many, the finale of the NFL season is a holiday that grabs the attention of millions of Americans. The February 11 game will be celebrated with food and plenty of people gathering to cheer on their team. However, this list is for you if you prefer to get off the couch and go outdoors. And don’t worry, some of the activities are early enough that you can still catch plenty of football.

Learn About Climbing in Joshua Tree National Park
Joshua Tree is full of cool rocks, some of which you can even climb. Start your day by grabbing coffee with the park’s climbing rangers and park stewards to discuss climbing options and maybe even find a climbing partner. This event is held every Saturday and Sunday now through April 1. It starts at 8 a.m. Just be sure to bring your own mug to campsite nine at Hidden Valley Campground.
Check Out the Sled Dogs of Denali National Park
Denali National Park is the most well-known park in Alaska. The destination also uses sled dogs for rangers to get around. You can check out the historic Sled Dog Kennels and learn more about their work every Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. If the dogs are on a trail, a park ranger will still be available to discuss these fascinating animals.
Enjoy a Tidepool Talk at Channel Islands National Park
Channel Islands National Park comprises five islands, but visitors find some of the best wildlife in the park in the water. Before heading to the park, you can experience a tidepool talk at the visitor center in Ventura Harbor. Rangers are available every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to discuss everything from sharks to starfish.
Go Snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park
Every Sunday and Saturday through March 17, Rocky Mountain National Park Rangers offer a snowshoe tour of the park’s west side near Grand Lake. Generally considered the quieter side of the park, enjoying the views with a guided snowshoe adventure is a great way to find beauty in an isolated place. The snowshoe walk begins at 1:00, and you must make a reservation by calling 970-586-1513. Once you have your reservation, they’ll share the location of the guided hike.
Check Out All the Stars in Voyageurs National Park
Voyageurs National Park is one of the best places to catch the night sky in the continental U.S. Occasionally, even the Aurora Borealis is visible. To get more people outdoors, the park is holding stargazing events from February 10 to February 17. Events include night-time snowshoe tours and stargazing events with telescopes.
