Where Was the Halloweentown Franchise Filmed?

Halloweentown is a four-part Disney film series starring Debbie Reynolds. The films have become a classic for many who grew up in the aughts watching Disney Channel Original Movies (or DCOMs, for short). The films follow teenage witch Marnie Piper as she learns about her family’s supernatural powers and how they’ve been in a fight against evil trying to take over the world.

Growing up watching the Disney Channel, there was no shortage of magical content to take in, but Halloweentown was one of my personal favorites. If you’ve been looking for your next Halloween-themed vacation destination, this is where you’re going to want to go.

Similar to Forks, Washington and the town’s love of Twilight, the people of Saint Helen’s, Oregon love the Halloweentown movies and continue to celebrate their town’s connection to the beloved movies. In the fictional Halloweentown, it’s Halloween every day, and from mid-September until the end of October, St. Helen’s transforms itself into the iconic Halloween-themed city. According to Roadside America, there is even a ceremony to light the Great Pumpkin in the town center.

The people of St. Helen’s loved the setup for the Halloweentown movies, and after filming wrapped on the first movie in 1998, they decided to relive the joy of the movies every fall so fans can live their witchy dreams with a variety of photo-ops set up throughout the downtown area.

Each year, the town puts together a jam-packed schedule of Halloween-themed events, like costume contests and haunted houses. You can even take a picture in front of Benny’s cab, although you might not be able to catch a ride considering how busy the streets become at this time of year.
