HERSHEY, Pa. – The opening day of America’s Largest RV Show saw 6,279 people walk through the gates. Hosted by the Pennsylvania RV & Campground Association (PRVCA), the “Hershey Show” continues throughout the weekend. That number is more than last year’s 5,797 figure, but down a bit from the first-day tallies of previous years. However, with the forecast calling for sunny weather with temperatures in the 70s, it’s certainly expected the attendance will continue to climb.
And among the 1,500 units on display at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa., are dozens of new units from manufacturers such as Winnebago, Brinkley RV and Alliance RV. Like other OEMs, those three manufacturers are showcasing 2024 model year units, including brands never before seen by the general public.
Winnebago had close to 100 units on hand including Class A, C and B motorhomes as well as a wide range of towables on display. The lines were longest at the four different floorplans of the Access series, a new line the company is debuting at the Hershey Show.
Interestingly, it brings Winnebago full circle and the stick-and-tin construction of its very first models decades ago.
Adam Christoffersen, senior product manager for Winnebago Towables, said that the Access makes RVing accessible to more families with its amazingly low selling point of under $30,000 for a 30-foot unit – yet without sacrificing quality or features.
The one he singled out in particular came with a set of double bunks – in a fully enclosed room, not just being sectioned off with a curtain. This certainly adds to the privacy factor for teens and kids, and the parents can utilize the TV with the programming they desire.
Nearby at the Brinkley display, which was making its premium fifth-wheel products viewable to the general public for the first time in the East, Darrin Green was proudly highlighting the extensive storage at the front of the Model G toy hauler unit. One notable feature in this compartment were the two MORryde sliding cargo trays, tucked away underneath the bottom of the compartment, for additional storage. There’s even a hidden refrigerator on the outside of the unit.
Venturing even further into the Brinkley toy hauler, the garage seemed more like an additional room with its finished interior walls and neatly hidden set of two beds that came down from the ceiling. Add that to the outdoor platform, behind glassed in and screened windows, and you have several hundred more feet of living space.
Another young company, Alliance RV, featured its newly introduced Middle Bonus Room model, with can serve as an office or playroom for kids, without getting toys spread all over the kitchen floor.
And speaking of kitchen, Ab Saleh, general manager for the Avenue line, showcased the 101-inch-long kitchen table that can easily seat eight people. And, not to be forgotten, there is a spacious loft area above the Middle Bonus Room.
