Airstream Reveals New Class B Camper Van and Updated Trade Wind Travel Trailer
The big Hershey RV Show may not officially get underway until tomorrow, but Airstream is already making headlines. Ahead of the start of that event, the RV manufacturer has announced that it is expanding its lineup with two exciting new additions. Those include the Trade Winds travel trailer and the Interstate 19X, a smaller, more nimble version of its Interstate 24X adventure van.

Hailed as a “visionary” new addition” to Airstream’s iconic line of towables, the Trade Wind is built for off-grid camping without sacrificing amenities. To achieve that, the 26-foot travel trailer comes equipped with three Battle Born batteries, giving it a total of 810Ah of storage capacity. That’s four times higher than most other Airstream models. When paired with the 600W roof-mounted solar panels and a 3,000W inverter/charger, the RV can power both a microwave oven and a 15,000 BTU air conditioner at the same time. It can also function without an external power source for days at a time.
The Trade Wind supports boondocking adventures in other ways, too. For instance, it comes standard with a three-inch lift kit to improve ground clearance and rides on Goodyear off-road tires. It also has a recirculating water heater to prevent unnecessary waste, and the onboard lithium batteries are integrated into the trailer’s chassis to provide additional warmth and protection. Even the trailer’s kitchen appliances and cabinetry are built rugged enough to withstand travel over rough terrain.

We’re thrilled to introduce a new model that builds upon that legacy for a new generation of customers who want the freedom to choose where and how they’re going to experience the outdoors.”
The travel trailer is available in one floorplan and can comfortably sleep up to five people. Its primary bedroom features a queen-size bed, with optional single beds coming in 2024. It features 39-gallon fresh, gray, and black water tanks and has a full-featured kitchen with a microwave, gas stove and oven, and a residential refrigerator with a freezer. The Trade Wind is available starting today with an MSRP of $129,400.

Also arriving today is the Interstate 19X, a 19-foot version of the existing Interstate 24X Class B model. The new camper van promises to be more maneuverable than its larger sibling while maintaining the same off-road capabilities. The vehicle rides on a Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis that comes standard with four-wheel drive with the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive for even better performance. All-terrain tires ensure good traction, both on and off pavement.
The Interstate 19X further enhances remote camping with its dual 100Ah Battle Born batteries, 2,000W inverter, and 250W solar panels. It also comes with a 13,500 BTU A/C unit, a Truma Combi heating and hot water system, and a 2.5kW ultra-quiet generator. An optional E1 upgrade package adds more power and performance with a single-fuel-source system that draws gas from the vehicle’s tank for the water heater, furnace, and generator.

The camper van seats four and sleeps two in a comfortable queen-size bed or two optional single mattresses. It has a wet bath with a shower, a nicely equipped galley—complete with a 1,000W stow-away induction stove—and a cozy dinette. A flexible and spacious rear storage area makes the perfect place to stow outdoor gear, like backpacks, bikes, or a small kayak.
The Interstate 19X has a starting price of $199,940.
