General RV, RVWA, RVTI Salute All-Female Tech Grads

WIXOM, Mich. – After a week of hands-on training and instruction, nine students have graduated from the RV Technical Institute (RVTI) and RV Women’s Alliance (RVWA) All-Female Tech Class sponsored by General RV Center.

The women attended the class from July 10-14 at the RVTI headquarters in Elkhart, Ind. Students received hands-on training and instruction giving them the experience and expertise needed to succeed in the RV industry. During the week-long training, General RV employees and professionals spoke to the class, encouraging them to complete their Level 1 certification training and offering tips for success.

“Congratulations to the RVWA/RVTI graduating class of All-Female Technicians,” said Laura Dobbs, General RV service and customer experience director. “This is an incredible achievement, and we hope that they gained the knowledge and skills needed to have a successful career in the RV industry.  We are proud to have had the opportunity to support this training with the help of RVWA/RVTI and look forward to future partnerships.”

According to a 2021 study commissioned by the RVWA, women’s representation in the RV industry has improved significantly over the past two years, but there is still room for improvement. Approximately 16 percent more women are employed in the RV industry than were two years ago. That number is expected to grow as a majority of employers within the RV industry continue to actively recruit female applicants.

“The RV Women’s Alliance would like to congratulate the nine women who graduated our third All Female Technician class for 2023,” said RV Women’s Alliance Managing Director Jessica Rider. “These classes have been a great way for women to learn, grow and find new careers in the RV industry.  Thank you to General RV for sponsoring the class and providing so much knowledge all week.”

In 2020, RV service technicians were the third-fastest-growing job of the year as millions of people flocked to RVs as a social distancing travel alternative. RV ownership has boomed over the past few years and interest continues to rise with 32% of leisure travelers saying they would like to buy an RV in the next 12 months.

“Thanks to the support of the RV Women’s Alliance and General RV, these women now have the skills to begin new careers in the RV technician field,” said Tracy Anglemeyer, RV Technical Institute Director of Recruitment and RV Women’s Alliance Board Member. “Women make excellent RV technicians, and these classes are critical to recruiting and training more RV technicians. We are looking forward to continuing these efforts with three more classes throughout the remainder of the year.”
