Catch Up Now On This Year’s Tour de France

The Tour de France is underway, but there’s still plenty of time to join in and watch the world’s most famous cycling race.

If you haven’t been paying attention so far, here’s a recap:

• The race began on Saturday 1 July in Bilbao. 30 year old British rider Adam Yates won the stage.
• Stage two winner was France’s Victor Lafay, and the polkadot jersey went to American Neilson Powless.
• There was some confusion on Monday about who took stage 3, but it was decided that Jasper Philipsen took the leg. Powless retained his King of the Mountain polka dot jersey.
• On Stage 4, Philipsen retained his win but on day 5, it was an Australian – Jai Hadley – who won the stage.

Currently, riders are in the race’s sixth stage and making their way from Tarbes, France, to Cauterets-Cambasque. The ride is just under 145 KM or about 90 miles. This ride may seem like a small part of the nearly 3,500 KM race, but each stage is vital to crowning a winner. 

Before the start of the race, cycling analysts bet heavily on Tadej Pogačar from the UAE Team Emirates. Pogačar won the race in 2020 and 2021, and was the runner-up last year. However, Stage 5 saw Australian Jai Hindley pull forward, granting him the famous Yellow Jersey.

With a total of 21 stages and the race continuing until July 23, you have more than enough time to catch up.
