Each week there is far more news from the RV industry than we have time to cover. To make up for that, we offer our weekly roundup of the most interesting and important things that you may have missed. Here’s what happened this week:

  • Cummins RV Generators Meet California Emissions Requirements: In 2024, the state of California will enact stiff new emissions standards for SORE (small off-road engines) motors. This will result in a ban on the sale of gas-powered lawnmowers, weed trimmers, commercial utility equipment, and more. But this week, Cummins announced that its new line of Onan RV generators will be compliant with the code, allowing them to remain on sale. Find out more here.
  • KOA Says Campers are Increasingly Turning to AI:  In the June 2023 edition of the KOA Monthly Research Report we learn that campers are increasingly turning to AI to help plan their trips. Data shows that 32% of people who camp regularly have already used artificial intelligence—such as ChatGPT—to help in that process, with another 22% indicating they plan to use it in the future.
  • Camping World Launching Brand-Exclusive Dealerships: This week, Camping World announced that it will have ten brand-exclusive dealerships up and running by the fall. Current plans include opening an outlet in Oklahoma City that will exclusively sell Jayco-branded RVs, with a Keystone-focused dealership coming to Michigan. Both will make the transition in July, with other dealerships to follow.
  • Genesis Products Brings RV REVIVE Collection to Camping World: Speaking of Camping World, the RV retail giant has begun working with Genesis Products on the rollout of its REVIVE collection. Available through CW Design Centers, these products can help RVers with upgrading or completely redesigning their interiors. Options include replacement wallboard, cabinet kits, cabinet doors, and backsplash kits.
  • Thor Shows Off 2024 Line-Up: If you’re in the market for a new RV, you may want to have a look at what Thor has in store for 2024. The company unveiled its latest Class A, B, and C motorhomes this week, with updates ranging from minor and modest to complete redesigns. As always, there is plenty to explore in these vehicles. Check them out here.
  • USA Today Says More Women are Buying RVs: There is no question that the demographics and trends for who is buying RVs have changed over the past few years. But just in case you need more proof, USA Today has published a story that examines why more women are purchasing motorhomes and travel trailers.

That’s all for this week. We’ll be back next Friday with another rundown of all the important stories from the RV industry.
